Licensing

The license policy of the journal “Problems of Semantics, Pragmatics and Cognitive Linguistics” is governed by the basic terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), which allows users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, quote or refer to the full texts of journal articles while maintaining copyright.

Ethical Policy

The ethical policy of the journal "Problems of Semantics, Pragmatics and Cognitive Linguistics " is based on the ethical principles and rules recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Code of Ethics of a Ukrainian scientist and the Code of Ethics of the university community of Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University.

The editors consider the rights and obligations of all parties involved in the publication process: the author (authors), reviewers, editorial board, and the rights of the  readers.

AUTHORS are obliged to:

  • while keeping the COPYRIGHT of the article, at the same time grant the journal the right to its first publication under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), which allows others to freely distribute the published work with mandatory reference to its authors and its first publication.
  • submit for publication an original linguistic work that does not contain plagiarism (self-plagiarism) and is designed according to the Author’s Guidelines;
  • bear full responsibility for the reliability of facts, statistical data, proper names, quotes, vocations and translation;
  • in case of finding a severe error or inaccuracy in the published research – immediately inform the Editor-in-Chief about it for the publication of corrections or clarifications;
  • after accepting the article for publication in the journal “Problems of Semantics, Pragmatics and Cognitive Linguistics”, – sign the Author’s Agreement (within three days after receiving the decision);

AUTHORS have the right to:

  • receive information from the journal editors about the completion of all stages of preparing an article for publication: from the initial control of compliance with Author’s Guidelines to the final decision of the editorial board (acceptance for publication, in case of rejection – about the reasons for rejection);
  • get reviews from experts; if there are comments or suggestions – revise the article or submit a reasoned explanation of disagreement with the opinion of experts to the editorial board (time limit – one week);
  • withdraw the article until the issue materials with this article have not been transferred to the publishing house;
  • after the publication of the article – distribute it, place it in the electronic repository of the institution where they work, publish it as part of a monograph, etc., with a mandatory reference to its first publication.

REVIEWERS (members of the editorial board, leading specialists of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Ukrainian and foreign educational/scientific institutions)

  • carry out an anonymous examination of manuscripts, taking into account the basic requirements of publishing ethics – to respect the principles of COPYRIGHT, intellectual property rights and to observe the principles of CONFIDENTIALITY;
  • evaluate the manuscript in terms of relevance, novelty, content of the presentation, generalisations and conclusions, filling out a typical Review form;
  • give an expert assessment of wording: recommend the article for printing without corrections; recommend the article for publication after taking into account the comments of the reviewer; recommend the article for publication after careful revision; do not recommend the article for publication;
  • may refuse to review if they find that the issues discussed in the manuscript do not match their scientific qualifications;
  • are obliged to refuse to review if they find a potential conflict of interest with the author of the manuscript or the institutions where the research was performed;
  • review period - within one month.

MEMBERS OF THE EDITORIAL BOARD

  • consider all submitted materials regardless of ethnic origin, religious beliefs, citizenship and political views of the author;
  • are responsible for the CONFIDENTIALITY of all materials until the moment of publication;
  • appoint experts for double “blind” review of articles;
  • ensure a fair evaluation of manuscript reviews on the basis of applicable legal requirements regarding copyright, legality, and plagiarism;
  • reserve the right to check the article for plagiarism, as well as to reject or return it for revision due to its non-compliance with requirements;
  • make the final decision to publish the article (review) in the journal;
  • in case of violations of the rules of scientific ethics or a conflict of interests (of the author of the study and the reviewer or the author and other people) – a meeting is held where a decision is adopted, which is final and cannot be appealed;
  • have the right to submit their manuscripts for publication, subject to the standard procedure of independent external review organised by the Editor-in-Chief, but do not participate in their review.

READERS have the right to FREE ACCESS to the journal’s scientific content, information about it, and publishing principles.

Open Access Policy

Supporting the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI), the journal “Problems of semantics, pragmatics and cognitive linguistics” provides access to its content based on the principles of openness and accessibility, which allows you to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search or refer to the full texts of its materials.

Each issue of the journal is published in printed and electronic forms.

Printed editions are sent to leading libraries in Ukraine.

The electronic version must be in free access on the journal's official website in the Current Issue and Archive sections.

Electronic copies are stored on the websites of the Institute of Philology; M. Maksymovych Scientific library (“Scientific Periodicals of the University”);  Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine (“Scientific Periodicals of Ukraine”).

Anti-plagiarism

To ensure compliance with academic integrity, the Editorial Board of the journal is guided by the “Regulations on the system of detection and prevention of academic plagiarism at Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University” (2020), according to which manuscripts of articles submitted to the editorial offices of the university's scientific journals are subject to mandatory review for academic plagiarism (self-plagiarism) – at the stage of submitting a work for consideration for publication.

The editorial board uses the licensed UNICHECK plagiarism check service.

In case of detection of borrowings or duplication of the author’s own scientific results without proper references, the manuscript is returned to the author for revision with the possibility of resubmission.

A manuscript containing intentional textual distortions, alleged attempts to conceal borrowings, or other manifestations of academic plagiarism is rejected.
