In the article, several functions performed by French-language tourist texts in the communicative space were identified with the help of philological analysis. The most widespread is the informative function, as such texts aim to familiarize the reader with the features of a particular tourist destination. At the same time, the emotional-expressive function is manifested in the texts, stimulating the reader’s interest, creating a positive emotional background, and encouraging further exploration of the topic. The nominative function helps to present key concepts and phenomena in a structured way, ensuring accuracy and unambiguity in information perception. The evaluative function makes as an indirect influence on the reader’s attitude, emphasizing the advantages and relevance of gastronomic tourism. The appellative function actively works in the texts to prompt the action. The descriptive function helps the reader to visualize tourist images, making the journey imaginable, while the compensatory function replaces the direct experience of those unable to travel with verbal experience. Despite the rather large amount of information, the tourist text maintains a certain conciseness, which is a manifestation of the concisive function of discourse.
