PERIPHRASTIC CONSTRACTIONS WITH GERUND IN SPANISH LANGUAGE OF THE XII CENTURY

Abstract

This article regards the problem of formation, semantic and usage of the periphrastic constructions with gerund in Spanish language of the XII century based on the poem “El Cantar de mio Cid” (the first literary legacy written in Spanish in the beginning of the XII century). This problem is regarded in context of scientific aspectology studies of different linguists who investigated this problem. Verbs participating in formation of periphrastic constructions with gerund are classified in the article. The analysis of aspectological meanings of the periphrastic gerund constructions with the verbs ir, estar, andar, seer is realized. The results of the study show that the desemantization process of the verbs ir, estar, andar, seer in combination with gerund testifies that in the XII century the clear trend towards the formation of grammaticalized aspectual periphrastic constructions with gerund exists in Spanish language, that is a phenomenon of analytism in grammar system of Spanish language.
