THE CONCEPTUAL SPHERE «WAR» IN FRENCH- AND UKRAINIAN-LANGUAGE MEDIA DISCOURSE: A CONTRASTIVE ANALYSIS OF TRANSLATIONS

Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of how the concept of war is reflected in the media discourse in different languages, in particular in French and in Ukrainian. In the course of the study, a contrastive analysis was used to reveal not only linguistic differences, but also those aspects related to the content and emotional coloring of the terminology associated with war in both cultures. The main lexical and semantic means of representing war and the main differences in the ways of conveying the concept during translation are revealed, which will help to understand the cultural and linguistic features of the perception of war in French- and Ukrainian-speaking environments.
